The plane is a small lightweight, strut based monoplane brought to production in 1937. Originally it was designed as a trainer and as a general aviation aircraft. It has become one of the most recognizable American airplanes which brings the sky closer to hundreds of thousands of pilots. During years of production (1937-1947) Pieper built almost 20000 J-3 CUB’s which makes it the most produced plane during his era.
